WINTER SPORTS IN SESIA VALLEY

Alagna, a small village at the foot of Monte Rosa, and Val Sesia are known as a freeride skiing paradise and as perfect resorts for those seeking a dynamic holiday in close contact with nature.  Though barely known internationally, Monterosa Ski is Italy’s biggest ski region which connects Val Sesia to the villages of Val d’Aosta, Gressoney and Champoluc, and offers plenty of opportunities for off-piste ski enthusiasts to enjoy deep snow and ski touring.   In this Alpine “jewel” the surrounding landscape is truly unique, extending right up against the towering peaks of Monte Rosa.  This area offers a wide range of sports activities ranging from heli-ski to breathtaking runs in fresh powder and lift systems up to 3,200 metres above sea level where there are soft undulating runs and wide open spaces for freeriding. There are two cross-country trails through spectacular landscapes, and it is also possible to go ski touring and snow-shoe trekking with expert guides.   Here too CUBE offers sports holidays with top food and drink and cultural opportunities.  Excursions can be arranged to the Sacred Mountain of Varallo, with dinners in the best restaurants of the area and private wine tasting at the cellars of the famous wine producers of the Alto Vercellese region.  Unique is the accommodation: it is possible to stay in cosy little hotels in the traditional baita walser  (characteristic   chalets of this area), whose  particular stoves and wooden structures evoke the atmosphere of another world.
